Land Back… What is the 1st step?

Land Back is part 2 of the Land Acknowledgement. Now, many organizations are doing better and recognizing the people who were the original caretakers of the lands we now think of as the 50 states. These lands were and continue to be traditional homelands of over 500 diverse nations of Indigenous peoples. In addition, there have been many other caretakers of the land, our Indigenous relatives from further south of the current US boarder, our Black relatives, our Asian and Pacific Islander relatives and many more. Land Back is not charity or trade.

Indigenous nations of most parts of the world understand the value of life, and the harmony that humans and land, water, and resources need to maintain in order to keep our living sustainable. Indigenous folks both on Turtle Island (“the Americas'“) and internationally, have and continue to be at the frontlines when it come to protecting our planet for the future generations. Land back is an investment in our future for the generations to come. Thinking of Land Back colonially, many settlers have the idea that they will no longer “possess” the wealth they need to survive, but as Land Back is decolonial at the root, this is not the case. In fact, land cannot be possessed, but only protected and all who honor that will be beneficiaries to the wealth that comes from treating all living beings with dignity.

Donate Money

The Three Sisters Land Project is a Land Back Project that we support at Native RITES, and you can help make it a reality. You can donate often to help “purchase” the land the project will one day be born on, or you can make a one time donation today.

We thank you for anything that you can give and encourage you to check back often for updates.

Donate Land

Another way you can support Land Back efforts is by donating back your properties. You can return land that you are occupying or that is a part of your land “portfolio.” You may also consider leaving the land holdings you have to us as a bequest gift.
